Lt. Gen. Vern M. “Rusty” Findley II, a highly decorated retired member of the U.S. Air Force with a military career spanning 35 years, joined SkySkopes as a senior consultant for business development this week.

Findley is a former vice commander of the Air Force’s Air Mobility Command headquartered at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. AMC is composed of nearly 142,000 people and is responsible for a majority of the branch’s strategic transportation assets and missions.

“General Findley is a proven leader in aviation, and he is coming to SkySkopes in order to help fulfill our national ambitions,” said Matt Dunlevy, President and CEO of SkySkopes.

Findley’s years of flight and operations experience will be tapped to assist in guiding SkySkopes as the company continues its national expansion.

“I’m very impressed with the energy, enthusiasm and professionalism of the SkySkopes team,” Findley said. “I’m excited to join this team and help them expand their industry-leading portfolio.”

As part of Findley’s service record, he served in numerous key leadership positions within the Air Force and accrued more than 3,800 hours as a command pilot on various aircraft, including jets, military transport planes and refueling tankers.

Findley has ties to the Grand Forks area, which is home to SkySkopes’ headquarters. A refuelling tanker assignment brought him to Grand Forks Air Force Base in February 1978, where he served as a navigator and instructor navigator for the 905th Air Refueling Squadron until he departed for Undergraduate Pilot training in June 1981.

Findley returned to GFAFB in January 1999 to serve as base commander for just over a year before receiving an assignment to lead Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina.

He holds an MBA from the University of North Dakota, a master’s degree in national security resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Arizona State University.
